UAE Tech, Digital and Cyber Salaries 2027 Outlook

What UAE tech, digital and cyber roles pay in 2027: monthly salary benchmarks for engineers, product and leaders, plus gratuity and negotiation tips.

A mid-level software engineer in the UAE earns AED 25,000 to 40,000 a month in basic salary, according to Robert Walters’ 2026 salary survey. Total pay is a different number, and it’s the one candidates and hiring managers end up negotiating.

This guide covers UAE tech, digital and cyber salaries for 2027. It sets out what the main surveys say for engineering, security, product and leadership roles, how base pay, bonus, equity and gratuity add up, and what to ask for in an offer. Priority Tech is a specialist tech recruitment agency, so we’ve added notes on using the numbers in a real negotiation.

What “salary” means in the UAE

Pay is quoted monthly in AED, and the UAE doesn’t tax salaries, so the figure on your offer is what you take home. The catch is which figure. Robert Walters reports basic salary only, excluding benefits and bonuses. Levels.fyi, where engineers report their own pay, shows total compensation including bonus and stock, so it leans towards larger tech employers.

A full package usually has four parts:

  • Basic salary: the monthly cash figure, shaped by seniority, skills and employer type.
  • Allowances: housing, transport and an annual flight home are common on top of basic.
  • Bonus: cash tied to company, team or individual targets.
  • Equity: more common in scaling software, infrastructure and security companies. Four-year vesting with a one-year cliff is a typical structure.

Basic salary matters for another reason. End-of-service gratuity is calculated on basic pay only: 21 days’ basic for each of the first five years, then 30 days for each year after, capped at two years’ pay (UAE government guidance). On AED 30,000 basic, five years’ service earns AED 105,000. Moving AED 5,000 a month from allowances into basic adds AED 3,500 to the gratuity for each of those years.

Engineering and cyber security salaries

Monthly basic salary, from the Robert Walters 2026 UAE tables:

RoleAED a monthAbout AED a year
Software engineer25,000 to 40,000 (average 32,500)300,000 to 480,000
Senior software engineer30,000 to 35,000360,000 to 420,000
Head of software engineering40,000 to 60,000480,000 to 720,000
Information security analyst20,000 to 30,000240,000 to 360,000
Information security manager30,000 to 45,000360,000 to 540,000

For a second view, Dubai software engineers on Levels.fyi report a median total pay of about AED 26,700 a month across 251 submissions, which sits inside the mid-level range above. Early-stage startups often pay less cash and add equity, so ask for the equity terms and how they’re valued.

Where demand is pushing pay up

Michael Page’s UAE Salary Guide 2027 puts the top of the range for agentic AI engineers at AED 70,000 a month and for agentic AI architects at AED 75,000. For technology employers, it lists DevOps engineers, security engineers, cyber security managers, platform engineers and infrastructure managers among the most wanted. The skills it names most are cloud strategy and migration, cyber security and risk management, and technology governance and compliance.

If you have one of those profiles, expect to sit towards the top of the bands above.

Product, digital and design salaries

Robert Walters puts product managers at AED 30,000 to 45,000 a month in basic pay (average 37,500), roughly AED 360,000 to 540,000 a year. Heads of product earn AED 50,000 to 70,000 a month, or AED 600,000 to 840,000 a year.

Michael Page’s 2027 guide lists digital leadership, engineering managers, product managers, performance marketing and social media marketing managers as the digital roles employers want. Bonuses in product and growth roles are usually tied to launch, acquisition or retention targets.

Leadership and C-suite salaries

Top of the range for senior roles, from Michael Page’s 2027 guide:

RoleUp to, AED a monthUp to, AED a year
CIO or CTO150,0001,800,000
Chief information security officer120,0001,440,000
Chief data officer120,0001,440,000

Those are ceilings, not averages. Robert Walters has CISO basic pay at AED 85,000 to 120,000 a month. At this level the structure matters as much as the base, so get bonus, equity, vesting and exit terms in writing. We recruit CEO and other C-suite roles for clients, and you can see some of that work in our case studies.

What will move offers in 2027

Competition for candidates. Robert Walters’ 2026 survey found two-thirds of professionals considering a job change this year. Michael Page’s 2026 guide found 49% of UAE professionals tried to negotiate their pay in 2025 and only 15% succeeded, so employers still hold a lot of the leverage. Candidates with scarce skills are the exception.

The calendar. Ramadan is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, with Eid Al Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March and Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha around 15 to 18 May (Gulf News). Exact dates depend on moon sighting. Try to close senior offers before Ramadan or after Eid, and keep final interviews out of the holiday weeks.

Negotiation tips

For candidates

  • Ask whether the offer quotes basic or total pay, and what’s included in each.
  • Work out the gratuity. A package heavy on allowances and light on basic pays out less at the end.
  • Bring evidence: systems you shipped, incidents you handled, performance you improved.
  • Get equity terms in writing: vesting schedule, cliff and exercise window.

For employers

  • Benchmark basic and total pay separately, and use the published bands as a starting point.
  • Aim for 48 to 72 hours between interview stages. Candidates with good skills take other offers while you wait.
  • Use a short, practical assessment, such as an incident drill or a product prioritisation exercise.
  • Say early whether you’ll pay relocation, and what it covers.
